Please read before using VOLT for real work.
VOLT refers to SANS 10142-1 (The wiring of premises — Low-voltage installations). It is not the standard and does not replace it. Values, tables and clause references were researched from public sources, including the public Edition 3 draft and SA testing guides, and may differ from the edition and amendments you are required to work to. Always check your licensed copy of SANS 10142-1 (available from the SABS) before you design, test or certify.
VOLT helps you prepare a test report in the Annexure 1 layout. It does not issue a Certificate of Compliance. Only a registered person (electrical tester for single phase, installation electrician or master installation electrician, registered with the Department of Employment and Labour) may issue a CoC, and they remain fully responsible for it under the Electrical Installation Regulations.
Fault-finding tips and calculators are guidance only. Isolate, test before touch and follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act. If in doubt, stop and get a qualified person.
To the extent allowed by law, VOLT, by Michael Diener accepts no responsibility for loss, injury or damage arising from use of the app. See the Terms.
